Refusing to be invisible means showing up as your truest, most authentic self, no matter what anyone says. It means claiming space in a world that too often tries to erase us.
From the Mattachine Society, the Daughters of Bilitis, and the Stonewall Rebellion to the HIV/AIDS crisis, marriage equality, and transgender rights, LGBTQ+ elders have led the way in every battle for our dignity and our lives. In the spirit of these leaders whose resilience granted us the rights our community has today, we ask: How do you refuse to be invisible?
This Pride season, SAGE invites YOU to join us in honoring our community’s trailblazers. Tell us your Pride story, join the Action Squad to advocate for LGBTQ+-affirming policies, sharing a graphic from our social media toolkit, make a gift to support SAGE’s work, or even join us at one of our Pride events.
Show us how and why you refuse to be invisible by using the hashtag #WeRefuseToBeInvisible in your social media posts — we’ll be featuring posts from the hashtag on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn!
