Front Desk Concierge/Receptionist SAGE Center at Stonewall House
SAGE is the country’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) older adults. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in New York City, SAGE is a national organization that offers supportive services and consumer resources for LGBTQ+ older adults and their caregivers, advocates for public policy changes that address the needs of LGBTQ+ older people and provides cultural competency training for aging providers and LGBTQ+ organizations, largely through its National Resource Center on LGBTQ+ Aging and its growing social entrepreneurship project. With offices in New York City, Washington, DC and Chicago, SAGE coordinates a growing network of 27 SAGE affiliates in 20 states and the District of Columbia.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer telephone, screen, and direct calls
- Take and relay messages (when needed)
- Provide information to callers
- Greet persons entering the SAGE Stonewall Center
- Direct persons to correct destination
- Deal with queries from the public/participants
- Receive and sort mail and deliveries/notify recipients
- Take note of employee availability and be aware of special instructions on how to handle phone calls
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area
SAGE Center Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Register new SAGE Center Participants (guiding participant in filling out registration form, taking photo, etc.)
- Maintain registration lists/rsvp lists for SAGE Center events/activities (both paid and unpaid)
- Managing and entering data STARS as directed by the Director
- Opening the SAGE Center/ Closing up the SAGE Center
- Have a general knowledge of program times and locations; understand how to read and explain calendars and schedules
- Participation and assisting in setting up/ tearing down during and after Sage Center events
Qualifications: (required credentials, experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, and characteristics):
- Work independently, ability to always display a mature manner and exercise discretion, Excellent communication skills, Finesse when dealing with people,
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook. Ability to learn and adapt to new systems/ technologies, Skilled in following verbal or written instructions, Flexibility, Positive attitude,
- A keen sense of humor
Education: High School Diploma
Reports to: Director, SAGE Center Brooklyn at Stonewall House
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Status: Full-time
