Contracts and Grants Manager
SAGE is the country’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBTQ+) older people. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in New York City, SAGE is a national organization that offers supportive services and consumer resources to LGBTQ+ older people and their caregivers, advocates for public policy changes that address the needs of LGBTQ+ older people, provides education and technical assistance for aging providers and LGBTQ+ organizations through its National Resource Center on LGBTQ+ Aging, and cultural competence training through SAGECare. SAGE supports a growing network of 70+ SAGECollab Partners across the country.
Summary: The Contracts and Grants Manager serves as the agency’s central resource and catalyst, to ensure that all Finance-related data pertaining to our contracts and grants is accurately collected and reported between internal and external stakeholders, within regulatory and agency deadlines. Proactively engages with staff at all levels, with authority to enforce completion and distribution of financial deliverable data, within the periods assigned by regulators. Communicates between internal and regulatory contacts, to ensure same-page understanding of data submissions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for invoicing government grants. Maintain accountability for timely submission and collection of all government grant revenues
- Prepare monthly grant spending reports in Excel for an assigned portfolio of grants. Reviewing grant spending reports prepared by the Contracts and Grants Associate
- Collaborate with programs to maximize utilization of funds and coordination with other funding
- Primary responsibility for identifying the need for and developing grant budget modifications
- Establish, maintain, and track data in all applicable records regarding SAGE’s contracts and grants, from initial thought to termination; provide support and expertise to pertinent stakeholders at all stages
- Maintain schedules to ensure timely grant/contract renewals and compliance with applicable grant and contract deadlines
- Manage relationships with counterparts at government agencies
- Assist with the development of Standard Operating Procedures relating to contract/grant management activities
- Provide support to the Director related to conducting grant kick-off meetings, training, and contract review meetings
- Provide other support as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrated experience in understanding the framework of current and prospective funding streams to facilitate the maximization of grants, contracts, and renewals
- Familiarity with pertinent federal, city, state, and local funders, and other pertinent entities
- Exceptional project and task management skills
- Effective, clear, and precise communicator to support collaboration and accurate budgeting, accounting, and reporting
- Technology-savvy, with the ability to manage data for financial reporting quickly and effectively
- Strong and natural collaborator, instinctive sharing information with those who need it and seeking to understand the needs of colleagues in other departments and cooperate effectively with them
- Personal qualities of integrity and credibility
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of 4 years of demonstrated nonprofit finance experience in a similar role.
- Fluency in MS Excel plus the ability to learn Intacct, Salesforce, or other pertinent software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Reports to: Director of Contracts, Grants and Compliance
Status: Full-time, Exempt
Location: Remote or SAGE’s National Headquarters in New York NY
Schedule: Generally, 35 hours/week 9:30 – 5:30, Monday – Friday; with schedule adjustments as needed per business necessity.
Salary range: $67K to $75K
