Compliance Manager
Position Overview:
The Compliance Manager plans, coordinates, reviews, informs and implements the quality management and quality improvement programs for SAGE programming and services. Monitors, and helps with compliance and quality assurance functions. Provides training, consultation, and direction to ensure programs and services are implemented at the highest standards, and in accord with agency expectations and regulatory mandates. Ensures policies and procedures are prepared, issued, monitored, and enforced, in addition to being updated to include regulatory changes. Closely collaborate with staff across the organization, notably the Manager of Contracts and Grants, who is accountable for all financial aspects.
Reports to: Director of Program Quality and Innovation
Possesses authority to approach any member of the Executive Team, Directors Team, Finance, Human Resources, or other stakeholder(s), per business necessity
Location: Based at SAGE National Headquarters in Midtown Manhattan, with extensive fieldwork for planned and unplanned visits to program sites as the position requires
Status: Full-time, Exempt position
Schedule: Generally 9:30am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday; unless adjustments required per business necessity
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Devise programmatic audit procedure(s) and tools that will capture all pertinent information and data from programs and services departments.
- Develop uniform standards for programmatic audit forms and procedures and assist Administrative staff in creating systems for reporting and monitoring.
- Assist with program audits, including and not limited to data pertaining to Participants, Service Provision, and Finances, and provide reports of independent reviews to regulators or Executive Team as needed.
- Enter programmatic audit findings and other pertinent data into the appropriate agency or government databases and provide follow-up meetings with appropriate staff to discuss programmatic audit outcomes, deficiencies, and improvement recommendations.
- Review program audits, incidents, and investigations, and in conjunction with Director of Program Quality and Innovation, follow-up with appropriate Programs and Services staff to make recommendations.
- Oversee and track deliverables and expenditures of the corporate, foundation, and government grants for Programs and Services department.
- In conjunction with Programs and Services staff and Human Resources, develop onboarding procedures and training schedules for all new and current employees, including and not limited to regulatory-required training, standards of care, and programmatic auditing/reporting processes.
- Maintain and submit timely and accurate records and reports regarding program quality and the health and safety of participants.
- Provide staff trainings to enhance the quality of care.
- Collaborate with appropriate internal/external Operations staff to ensure safe and secure facilities.
- Provide administrative assistance to Chief Strategy & Impact Officer and Chief Program Officer as needed.
- Engage in coordinated data sharing with Manager of Contracts and Grants via Excel, Smartsheet, or another agreed-upon format, to ensure same-page understanding of all information.
- Perform other duties as necessary.

- Ability to analyze and synthesize divergent pieces of information.
- Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to grants awarded to the organization.
- Ability to work independently and diplomatically with internal department and external partners.
- Ability to develop, implement and manage systems and processes to ensure grant compliance.
- Strong project and time management skills. Highly organized and detailed oriented.
- Demonstrated experience in organizational structures, program implementation, and compliance management.
- Outstanding writing, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office, Internet, and database management.
- Commitment and dedication to serving the needs of LGBTQ+ older adults.
Required Qualifications:
- One of the following degree/experience combinations:
- Pertinent Master’s degree plus two years of similar salaried experience
- Pertinent Bachelor’s Degree plus four years similar salaried experience
- Pertinent Associate’s Degree plus six years similar salaried experience
- Supervisory experience in similar fields may be viewed as similar
- Familiarity with similar or related programming servicing similar populations, and of accordant regulatory requirements of DFTA, NYCHA, DOHMH, NYSDOH and other pertinent regulatory entities.
- Ability to determine and implement preventive measures and systems to ensure optimal levels of compliance and quality of care, proactively engage with employees and other stakeholders and address any issues that arise in accordance with the highest ethics and in full concert with all applicable policies and law.
