Darrell Burks is from Jeffersontown, Kentucky, a small town outside of Louisville, Kentucky. His love for entrepreneurialism started at a youthful age when his Grandparents gave him permission to pick strawberries off the family farm and go door to door selling them for 25 cents a quart and keeping all the money for himself.
Darrell went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Eastern Kentucky University. After graduation, Darrell was the first few African American Managers to be hired by Kroger Co., the largest grocery chain in the USA, at their headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio. He started as a manager trainee and spent the next 9 years in multiple managerial, marketing, international sales, and procurement positions. Darrell also graduated with an Advanced MBA Degree in Management from the University of Cincinnati. Darrell’s last position with the Kroger Co. was assigned to report to the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) and Board of Directors to create and successfully implement a Minority Procurement Program.
After leaving the Kroger Co., Darrell was recruited by Monsanto Life Sciences as National Sale Director and successfully ran 55% of the Divisions revenue for 7 years in Chicago. After leaving Monsanto, Darrell moved to Miami and began his Real Estate career with Arvida Realty in 1997 and through acquisition became part of Coldwell Banker Realty. Throughout the past 21 plus years, Darrell has been a Top Producer, Assistant Manager, Trainer, Chairperson of CBCORE (Coldwell Banker Color of Real Estate), Sales Specialist, and in March of 2021 promoted to Managing Broker of the Coldwell Banker Realty Hollywood Florida office.
Darrell has served on LGBTQ+ Boards, Fundraising for a variety of LGBTQ+ South Florida organizations, Political Candidates and PACS. Darrell is an active philanthropist too.
Most recently, Darrell was asked to serve on the newly created Miami Dade County Commissioners LGBTQ+ Advisory Board and on the nomination committee for the Miami Dade Police Oversight Panel. Darrell is also a member of the National Association of Realtors, Florida Realtors, the National Association of Real Estate Brokers, and the Miami Association of Realtors.
Darrell’s passion is reading, working out, and spending quality time with his family.
