About SAGE Philadelphia

SAGE Philadelphia, a program of the William Way LGBT Community Center, was established in 2009 and provides programs and services for LGBT older adults age 50 and over (40 and over for its SAGEWorks program). These robust programs include: the 50+ Rap Session, Connecting Generations, Tuesday Mornings Out, Women’s Wednesdays, SAGEWorks, and Silver Foxes.

Ed Miller, Senior Programs Coordinator, oversees the LGBT older adult programs at the community center. These social, educational, and cultural programs are designed to help build community, reduce isolation and provide safe space for intergenerational connections. Ed is a member of the LGBT Elder Initiative an organization that promotes community efforts to improve the quality of life for local LGBT seniors. As a certified trainer through the National Resource Center on LGBT Aging, Ed provides training to agencies designed to help create safe, inclusive and welcoming environments to LGBT older adults.

Recent Highlights

SAGEWorks officially launched as part of the Center’s senior programming in 2012. The free work-readiness program is designed specifically for LGBT adults 40 and older who need or want to return to the work place.  Access to online job search tools, employment assessments, workshops and free computer training all take place in the newly renovated DavidBohnett CyberCenter.  For more information, email
