ABOUT THE CONFERENCE. To ensure that the conference is led by and for LGBT older adults, a planning committee of LGBT older adults is guiding the development of the content. The following tracks will provide the tools and information our LGBT communities need to advocate on our own behalf and begin reshaping the future of aging for all. We will continuously be updating this site to reflect more information on workshops, speakers and other agenda items, so come back often or sign up for e-mail alerts!

ADVOCACY & EMPOWERMENT. Speak up! Speak out! Learn to advocate effectively for yourself and others with health care providers, policy makers, legal and financial advisors and the wide range of aging providers and caregivers we encounter. Discuss with other LGBT older adults from around the country the most effective ways to address public policy inequities at the local, state and federal levels.

AGING & AGEISM. Explore the impact of ageism in our broader culture and within our own LGBT communities, including how ageism affects those of us who are women, transgender and gender non-conforming, and people of color. Learn how others are tackling ageism in their communities and building a powerful, constituent-driven advocacy agenda.

CAREGIVING. Come together with other caregivers to share your experiences and concerns. Whether you care for a parent, partner, friend or neighbor of any age, or you've lost a loved one for whom you provided care, you'll meet people with inspiring stories and take away practical information on how to deal with the stressors of caregiving and how to improve the policies that shape caregiving for LGBT older adults.

HEALTH & WELLNESS. Learn how to face the variety of mental and physical challenges that we face as we age, including adjusting to change, maintaining our health, finding affordable and LGBT-friendly housing and assisted living, dealing with illness and addiction, and retaining a healthy sexuality as a vital part of our lives. Identify ways to improve the policies and programs needed to help everyone age successfully and in good health.

FINANCIAL & LEGAL SECURITY. Meet with financial and legal advisors at clinics offered throughout the conference to receive assistance with issues such as medical power of attorney, healthcare proxies and more. Hear how others are putting financial and legal protections in place to secure their futures, and how public policies can be repaired to protect LGBT older adults and promote financial security for all of us.
