SAGE places a strong emphasis on partnering with institutions at the local and national level to effectively serve and advocate for LGBT older people. Over the years, SAGE has successfully collaborated with a wide array of organizations. Here are just a few of SAGE's current partners: In New York City NYC Department for the Aging: SAGE works closely with the NYC Department for the Aging to provide the training that traditional senior agencies need to effectively serve LGBT older people. In addition, the Department for the Aging funds some of SAGE's most important initiatives, like our path-breaking Caregiver Program. Rainbow Aging Alliance Project (RAAP): Through the RAAP project, SAGE works in close collaboration with SAGE-Queens and GRIOT Circle to bring together services and program opportunities for LGBT older adults in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. CSCS (Council of Senior Centers and Services of NYC, Inc.): SAGE is a proud member of CSCS, which strives to be strategically prepared to effectively address the challenges and opportunities facing older adults and their families, and the nonprofit organizations serving them. CSCS is the premier leader in identifying unmet and emerging needs; developing and promoting program and systems innovation, strengthening and expanding the organizational, program and resource capacity of nonprofit providers; and advocating to all sectors at the city, state and national levels. In New York State NYS Office for the Aging: Inclusive public policies for older adults are one key to guaranteeing that LGBT older people have the support they need. That's why SAGE works closely with New York State's Office for the Aging to make sure that LGBT people are included in the State's programs and planning for older adults. NYS LGBT Health & Human Services Network: SAGE is a founding member of this network of more than fifty nonprofit organizations that provide health and social services to GLBT people and their families across New York State. SAGE works with the Network to advocate for the service needs of GLBT people throughout the state. Across the Country : Since SAGE was founded in 1978, activists in a number of communities around the country have started their own SAGE affiliates to serve and advocate for LGBT older adults. SAGE works with affiliates in cities like Milwaukee, Chicago, and Syracuse to make life better for LGBT older people in their home communities and across the country. AARP: Over the years, SAGE has worked with AARP in a variety of ways to help get the concerns of LGBT older people onto the national radar screen. For example, SAGE was a leading participant in AARP's national conference "Diversity and Aging in the 21st Century" and continues to work with AARP on future endeavors. American Society on Aging: SAGE works actively with ASA, the nation's largest organization of professionals in the field of aging, to ensure that professionals who serve older adults are ready, willing and able to serve LGBT older people. SAGE sits on the Leadership Council of ASA's Lesbian and Gay Aging Issues Network (LGAIN). National Gay & Lesbian Task Force: SAGE partners with organizations like the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force to ensure that the needs of older LGBT people always have an important place on our community's agenda. The SAGE-Task Force partnership combines SAGE's many years of work on behalf of LGBT older adults with the Task Force's national advocacy engine.
