A Message From Eyal
Hello, I am Eyal Feldman and every year I conduct a lone marathon swim across some large body of water somewhere around the world and raise money through sponsorship for my favorite charities. This is my fifth annual marathon swim for charity and this year I will be swimming an 8-mile (13K) non-stop, swim from Maui to Lanai. For this reason my marathon swim is called Kamanawana Marathon Swim.
Maui, the second largest island, is home to what some believe are the best beaches in the world and Lanai, the smallest inhabited island in Hawaii, will be the setting for this year’s swim. Good friends and family will sail alongside me for physical and emotional support–to assure a successful and safe swim.
All funds raised for this swim will be donated to SAGE – an organization that is close to my heart and one that I have personally volunteered for and vigorously support. SAGE provides services for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender older-adult communities. Click here to learn more about my previous charity swim for SAGE – "Hoover Dam This is a Long Swim."
SAGE was established in 1978 as Senior Action in a Gay Environment. Now, as Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders, SAGE is the country's oldest and largest non-profit agency dedicated to serving and advocating for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender older adults.
I am asking my friends, loved ones or any supporter to sponsor my swim with a donation of at least $30 or more. This year I am looking to raise $10,000 and with your help, I think we can surpass that goal. A special thanks to Margaret Jacob, a SAGE Investors Circle donor and Professor of History at UCLA, for making a $5,000 matching gift to the swim already! We're almost there and I need your help to support LGBT older adults around the country!
