The LGBT Center of Raleigh is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation established in 2009. Our mission is as follows:

To strengthen individual and community development through social and educational activities; to facilitate the incubation of supportive services and groups; and to identify needs and advocate for resources benefiting the diverse population of lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual people, their friends and supporters within and beyond central North Carolina.

The Center is a 1700 square foot facility, which we occupied in May of 2011, and is our second physical location in three years. We have a fully visible storefront on a major downtown thoroughfare only 3 blocks from the State Capitol. Our intention was to make sure that the citizens of Raleigh could not miss the fact that we exist. We have become so successful that we have already run out of dates on the calendar for many of the programs that people are looking to pursue. This is a good problem to have, but it is also frustrating to know that the need is so great and our ability to fulfill that need is so limited.
