Patrick AitchesonCommunications & Logistics Administrator, Diverse Elders Coalition
Patrick Aitcheson is the Communications and Logistics Administrator of the Diverse Elders Coalition (DEC). The DEC advocates for policies and programs that improve aging in our communities as racially and ethnically diverse people; American Indians and Alaska Natives; and lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender (LGBT) people. In this role, Patrick coordinates the DEC’s meetings, internal communications and ensures the smooth operations of the coalition. Patrick also monitors coverage and stories of diverse elders and the policies that affect them.
Patrick brings with him expertise around the prevention and awareness of HIV/AIDS. For the past fourteen years, he has worked on the Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) HIV/AIDS hotline as a counselor, peer supervisor and trainer. On the hotline, Patrick counsels people dealing with the health, economic and social isolation issues related both to getting older and to long-term HIV infection and HIV medication usage.
Previously, he has designed, developed and managed a full-service family day care program for Union Settlement Association and supervised a five-classroom day care center. His business experience includes being a plant manager and plant controller for Formica Corporation and a financial analyst at a Boston investment firm. Patrick has his undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
