Teresa TheophanoCaregiving Case Manager
Teresa Theophano is the Caregiving Case Manager for Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders (SAGE). Teresa has a long history of working with the LGBTQ community in New York City, specifically around issues of homelessness, mental health, and wellness, and she recently served as a social worker at Trinity Place, a youth shelter in upper Manhattan. Prior to entering the field of social work, she was an assistant editor at a book publisher and specialized in LGBTQ fiction, but getting involved with feminist and LGBTQ-related advocacy as a volunteer and activist inspired her to change career directions. Although she has assisted with caregiving of LGBTQ elders and volunteered at senior centers, this is her first formal position working specifically with older adults, and she is very excited to join the team at SAGE.
Teresa holds a Master’s degree from Hunter College School of Social Work, will someday complete yoga teacher training, and has lived in Brooklyn with a rotating roster of cats for close to two decades.
